New government regulations

Government is advocating ICT in education

The government is exploring various possibilities to introduce technology–based education system through use of information and communication technology (ICT) in schools and higher–education institutions. In order to explore various alternatives, the Human Resource Development (HRD) Ministry has recently set up a committee — headed by Rajendra Pawar, chairman of the NIIT Group — to prepare a roadmap for implementation of ICT in education.

Government also has a dedicated National Mission on Education through Information and Communication Technology, in place since 2009. The mission, with an outlay of INR4,612 crore, works in promoting research to develop ICT tools.
